Pods vs PG in Gurugram: which one is right for you?
15 October 2026 · 5 min read

If you're moving to Gurugram on a budget, you'll hear about PGs within the first hour. Pods are newer, and people often ask us how they're different. Here's an honest comparison.
Flexibility
Most PGs work month to month, often with a deposit of one or two months' rent and a notice period. Pods are booked by the night, with monthly rates if you stay on. If you don't know yet whether you'll be here for a week or a year, a pod lets you find out without committing.
Price
A good PG bed in a central sector costs roughly ₹10,000–₹18,000 a month, depending on sharing and meals. At POD Anant, a monthly bed costs ₹15,000 in a four-share room or ₹16,500 in a three-share room. Wi-Fi, electricity, cleaning and breakfast are included, so there are no extra bills.
Privacy
This is where a PG can win. A twin-sharing PG room has a door, and a pod doesn't. At POD Prime you get a curtained bunk, and at POD Anant you share a room with two or three people. If a closed door matters to you, look at a private room.
What's included
- Pods: bed, mattress, wardrobe, desk, Wi-Fi, power, water, AC, cleaning and breakfast, all in one price.
- PGs: depends on the owner. Ask about AC electricity, food quality, Wi-Fi speed and cleaning before you pay a deposit.
Community
Both can be social or lonely, depending on the place. Commune PODs are part of Commune Apartment, so you're invited to the same events as the wider community of Communrs: festival parties, workshops and match screenings.
Our take
Starting a new job? Begin in a pod. Find your feet, learn which sectors you like, then decide whether to stay on monthly or move into a PG or flat. It's the lowest-risk way to land in Gurugram.
